  10. Hmm weird I've been told that all candidates support Medicare for All? If that's true why would a presumably intelligent and knowledgeable Obama official tell a bunch of people who stand to lose money if it passes that Bernie is the only one who really supports it???? Shocking!!!! Could it be that the rest of them don't *actually* want Medicare for All? But...I've been told so many times that that's wrong!

I think people have been telling you that all the candidates support true universal care, not that they all support a single payer system that is so robust it doesn’t exist anywhere else in the world, and eliminating private insurance all together.

  17. There is one thing that Medicare For All means: the Medicare For All bill that Sanders floored that is cosponsored by Warren, Harris, Gillibrand, etc. Do those people support that bill, actually? Is that what they actually want to pass? Stephanie Cutter doesn't seem to think so. They definitely are claiming to support it, though, because they cosponsor it!

And socialism means government control of the means of production but obviously that's not true anymore lol. Medicare For All at this point has become a stand in for universal health care of some sort (i.e. a public option) for the large majority of people in the country.

I don't think so either. I think they understand there's no way in hell that bill would ever become law as written, even under a President Sanders. I think Sanders understands that too, but he's doing it to start from a position of strength so that when it is inevitably negotiated in Congress, it doesn't end up without a public health care option of some sort. I think Harris kind of got close to saying she supports the bill as is when she said that the hope would be that eventually private insurance would die out when forced to compete with the govt, but that's a lot different than legally ending private insurance obviously.

I think that ideally that is the plan they would like to see, and if ever given the chance to get it implemented they would do it; which is why they co sponsored it. But I also think they realized that it has no chance of passing which is why they have also supported other ideas like starting with a public option.
