  1. yeah dummies like the founder of third way are definitely getting fooled like this, they absolutely can't tell the difference between someone who fundamentally agrees with them and someone who is fundamentally opposed. delusional

I'm surprised you don't think the people running Third Way are delusional.

You should know by now that rich people are just as dumb as everyone else. Warren saying she's not a socialist will be just fine for these people.

  6. I don't think they're necessarily delusional, Third Way especially has had success and gained influence in DC. I think people like that are much more likely to be simply cynical and self interested rather than delusional and incompetent. Of course lots of them are delusional, but when are it comes to politics I think "never ascribe to stupidity what could just as easily be malice" is much better than the original reversed version of that adage until proven otherwise (see: 2016). Like, Third Way specifically was calling her basically a socialist and saying she would literally doom the democratic party for eternity if she won in 2012. They know that she still supports what she supports that they hate, they just prefer her to Bernie, which is exactly what Bernie tweeted that everyone got mad online about.

"Best case scenario, [Third Way] is being cynical here, and they don't actually support [Warren] but they wanna use her to fuck with Bernie. Worst case scenario they genuinely have sort of [reconciled themselves]...one of the reasons might be that one of the things she doesn't have a plan for is healthcare. When asked about m4a, she suddenly turns into this sort of person who has never even thought of the idea before and is open to any answer from anyone, she hasn't put any thought into it, she doesn't have an incredibly detailed plan, she says 'well maybe we raise this cap, maybe we lower that cap, maybe the employers pay more, maybe they pay less, we'll figure it out.' All the sudden all the specificity and granular policy shit goes out the window when it comes to one issue that directly challenges a key constituency of the democratic elite."

Either way - Bernie's tweet was correct and this should tell you exactly why you should support Bernie

Fair enough. I do think some people went way over the top with their reaction to Bernie's tweet, but to echo what Jason said yesterday, it really may not be the best election strategy for him to kind of get mean with Warren.

I do think what Warren is doing is the smart way to go about things. Propose far left policies but pretend they're capitalist, moderate stuff and act incredulous when Chuck Todd types accuse you of being far left or socialist or etc. It fucking works on this population, for some reason.

  9. Yeah, strategically, I don't know. That's a whole other conversation I think. But it was right.

Warren is a compromise until Bernie drops out, when she becomes unelectable. I dont really trust any of these people.

Yeah like Wharf kind of alluded to, there's just as much a chance that they hate Warren just as much but are simply trying to use her as a cudgel against Bernie.

I think strategically the Bernie tweet was a bad move. If I were most of the candidates I'd focus my attach on Biden as he's the biggest threat to nomination and in general. You're not gonna look that bad if you attack Biden and at this early it makes most sense to attack nominees the furthest away from you ideologically.

  20. Well, yes, almost certainly, but the conclusion is still the same. They're clearly significantly less scared of her

  21. This “strategy” is pretty transparent and I don’t know why Bernie is falling for it. The moment it’s Biden or Warren they’d turn on Warren in a heartbeat. The entire point is to get Bernie and his followers riled up like this and to make a stink and make him less likable to Dem voters. And it worked.
