Maybe he did this during the townhall but he needs to admit what he did in El Paso to a community of Latinos. He tried to move them out of the community and housing they had been living in for generations without really giving them any compensation. He wanted to "revitalize" downtown El Paso and put in condos, new bars/restaurants, etc.

The kicker, his wife's father was the one backing the entire decision and reasoning for it. If it wasn't for his wife's father (my memory is a little hazy), he would have never gotten a seat on the El Paso City Council.

If he wants any chance at anything, even at coming back to Texas to run for senate, he needs to be honest and not deflect on his history.

I’m amazed that a man who’s taste in music never went past the 80’s has modern sensibilities.

  7. Looks like he got all the money he could out of grift one, so he's turning to the obvious grift two.

Being dishonest and deflecting things he did in the past is what makes him a politician. Honesty and accountability is rare.

Justin Amash, tea party right winger: Trump has committed impeachable offenses.

Nancy Pelosi, highest ranking democrat: trump and ICE have essentially murdered six children in less than a year but I sure will be praying that the trumps become good people.

But, hey, Nancy was good in December!

  15. Reading between the lines, I think what Pelosi is saying is she may not have the votes in the House with mod/red dems up in 2020 (and I am 100% sure we'd see some Dems in the senate when they know it won't pass vote against the party). From a purely political perspective, of wanting to win elections, she may be right. She may also be wrong in that an inquiry will motivate dems and not turn off moderates or over motivate Republicans.

Trump seems to believe an impeachment proceeding will help him, which I could actually see the logic behind. He needs a giant "establishment/baddie" to fight. He found it in Clinton and rode that to victory. I can see the calculous behind impeachment being that stand-in ... all of the swamp/outsider stuff would play right into it.

I'm still of the belief that doing the right thing, and your duty, is more important than a political outcome. I do worry about the political outcome of a failed impeachment and then losing the house, senate, and White House in 2020 ... but it's hard for me to play it out in my head that scandal after scandal being added to the impeachment proceedings for the next year doesn't hurt him. Unless there's some polling that says "these states are full of undecided that aren't going to like impeachment and will see it as a Pelosi Dems Coup and vote against them in 2020" ... I just lean on the side of doing your constitutional duty.

This is where I am pretty much word for word...though I will say that if they pull off doing all the investigating to make a case for impeachment without actually announcing it’s an impeachment inquiry, that would be a pretty good play. The whole process argument with impeachment is they’re more likely to get what they want, right? But if the courts keep giving them what they want anyway...

If you have to bail out farmers with billions to offset your trade policies, then your policies probably fucking sucks.
