Just for clarification here, it just sounds like he's saying he favors a two state solution instead which isn't a bad thing? He definitely doesn't say "Palestinians don't deserve equal rights"

natenyahu annexing the West Bank (well, promising to when he’s re-elected) means there is no two state solution.

There was nothing surprising about his open borders response though. He’s right that we can’t have that

Lets not pretend an American president can't put enough pressure on Israel, if they so choose, to cut that shit right the fuck out.

Bernie's the only president I think that would be willing to do so....and he's Jewish so the calls of anti-semitism would ring somewhat hollow.

Which two states? Current Israeli borders + the settlements? So Palestinians remain in their open air prison as a separate country with the Israeli state (and a hard border) keeping them from accessing fresh water? The fact of the matter is unless the borders change drastically and settlements are evacuated, any Palestinian state will never be "equal" to Israel. A two state solution that just takes current borders Palestine and makes it a full fledged state and says 'this is your country now' is not a solution, it would be like a reservation. Not to mention - what happens to the hundreds of thousands of Palestinian refugees living outside of Palestine right now? They have an unequivocal right of return according to international law, current borders Palestine simply could not fit them.

But, moreso, he doesn't seem to understand at all the inherent contradiction between Israel's Jewishness and its democratic-ness. He is right that it would be the end of Israel as we know it. It would be the end of it as a politically Jewish state. But any sort of just and sustainable (one state) solution would have to end that aspect of the states' existence, because it is impossible to have all of: a one-person one-vote political system, a politically Jewish state, and every rightful resident of Palestine in their rightful homes.

  7. What I'm trying to say is: he does actually say that Palestinians don't deserve equal rights because he has not proposed or expressed support for any plan which could actually give them equal rights at all. Just making current borders West Bank and Gaza into an independent Palestinian state does not qualify.

His Fox News town hall meeting is starting to make more sense.

  13. I mean, all the candidates agree with this. None of them want open borders. The only reason Bernie gets hit with it is because he is ostensibly left

Sounds like you're a "lets see the details of the plan" Bernie hater to me;-)

FTR I don't trust a one state solution at all. Not a chance in hell that ends up an equal state for all.

I do not trust Israel at all to give Palestinians within their boarders equal rights and say. US could pressure it to happen at first but I don't think we'd sustain (nor would Americans want to) it long term.
