  1. Bipartisan vote to remove, partisan vote to acquit. Pretty hilarious all-in-all. Trump's gotta be fucking pissed. Now to actually remove him we need to get through an insanely grueling next few months and then let the party install Tammy Baldwin as our savior. Easy peasy.

But people are gonna be able to get behind Joe Biden or Bernie Sanders after a brokered convention?

I definitely think there are people out there who wouldn't support Biden *or* Baldwin if Sanders doesn't get the nod. And there are people out there who wouldn't support Sanders *or* Baldwin if Biden doesn't get the nod.

But I don't see a lot of people who would go "Sure I'd suck it up and vote for Biden to stop Trump" who wouldn't also vote Baldwin for the same reasons. Where as I do think there are people out there who would go "Well at least she isn't Biden and has some of Sanders policies in her platform so lets do this"

So if you're looking at "Which of these candidates can get the most people to come out and support them"...

  11. 1) Yes. 2) Definitely more than rando #9 because we've already seen the second place preference polls and votes. 3) Irrelevant to your usage of the word "compromise."

True, there are, but that's not the question. It's if more of them exist than a rando. We've seen the data that shows lots of Bernie and Warren and Biden people have each other as their second pick.

Me. I won't vote for Baldwin if they install her. Fuck that shit. And I think there's millions of us.

The answer would literally be: any of the top four and then the rest of those that ran before we ever think of getting to Tammy Baldwin.

  15. I will now forever find it funny that Joe Manchin and Mitt Romney had more of a spine than Tulsi Gabbard in voting to impeach. :crylaugh:

I’d seriously become a Republican if the DNC installed a candidate at the last minute who never even ran. I could not be more pissed off than that.

This is all ignoring the fact that in the general there will be ~150 million voters, most of whom have no ideological political commitment whatsoever, whose primary thought upon seeing Baldwin or any other non-candidate with a D next to their name would be that they are the person who stole the Dem primary. This scenario is so far beyond simply each campaign refusing to back the other, it’s about the perception that it creates for the general public who could not give less of a shit about the current riff within the party

We've also seen polls that show large number of Biden and Sanders voters being unwilling to commit to voting for the eventual winner. The ones who have them as their second pick I'm not worried about. Its the ones that'll stay home if Biden or Sanders gets the nomination.

If everyone on the thread would rather have Biden get the nom than Baldwin then maybe my assumptions are wrong. I just find it weird that people would rather have Joe Biden as our nominee than one of the stronger progressive voices in the senate.

    Meet me in the middle
    C'mon let's make up a dance
We'll agree to call it The Compromise

    Step one:
    Find a Baldwin
    Grab a pen
    Don't you dare ask questions
    Give her the nomination

    Step two:
Throw Joe Biden behind a desk
    Where he'll do absolutely nothing
So it's your job to dance and smile
    The whole time

  25. And if you think the 'stay at home' number from that scenario is more than a rando coming in at the 11th hour, I think you're insane and have no need to keep having this conversation.
