Curious if zoo traffic has gone down over the years. They depress me as an adult

 

Warren's best hope is that, if it becomes a two or 3 horse race, she can peel off some of the mode moderate voters of Amy/Biden/whoever else drops out, position herself as the "Okay you think bernie is a little too far left, I'm progressive but don't call myself a socialist" etc. She seemed to be able to pick up some of those voters in Iowa, but obviously Pete got the majority of them. If she's the only woman left in the race, she'll get that girl power vote that I think mostly migrated to Amy

 

I do often wonder how many are stupid and how many don’t give a fuck but are paid to get clicks and traffic so #lfg

I actually appreciate zoos a lot now, so many of them (in America anyway) have gotten so much better about taking care of their animals, and have actually turned into centers of conservation efforts as well. But even the tiny city zoo here in Delaware has actual zoo keepers and behaviorists making sure the animals are mentally stimulated and etc.

Philly Zoo is amazing these days. Bronx Zoo seems pretty on top of their animal behaviorist shit too, though it's hard to tell with the large mammals there.

 

Yeah, for her it’s a waiting game. Wait just long enough and the right combo of people that have dropped out will lead to her being their second choice, and it just may work. She’s raising money with that idea it seems. Of course, MAYBE she won’t wanna take it all the way to the convention and will drop out, but I don’t think she wants to do it too early and give those votes to Pete, since we know quite a few of the college educated would go there.

The Cheyenne Mountain zoo in Colorado Springs is awesome and great for exercise, it's on the smaller side but it's built in to the foothills so it's basically a workout as well

 

Won’t know for a while, but I’m surprised he sold. Figured he wouldn’t want to work for someone else again and the company seemed viable and thriving. Guess he got fuck you level money.

 

Yeah I love our Minnesota Zoo; it's a great place to go and relax/chill out

 

I read Spotify is hiring all Ringer employees and the site will run as normal. So sounds like he got a really sweet deal of keeping what he likes but adding fuck you money to it.

 

My entire office meeting started talking about how Pelosi ripping up the transcript made them lose faith in the Democratic party.

My CEO just came up to everyone asking if they like trump and if not who would they vote for. It was super uncomfortable.

 

If things go really bad, it’ll happen fast.

 

Since I spend so much time at the Philly Zoo, I'm thinking of some of the cute things they do for the animals now that zoos probably didn't think to do 20+ years ago.

What stands out most to me is the indoor gibbon exhibit and feeding time. Instead of just tossing food in there when its time, they remove the gibbons and have a keeper go in there and strategically place food around in places (as well as having it just be on the floor like it would be in their natural habitat) so that to the gibbons it feels like they're just gathering food that they've "found" instead of "being fed" by a human.
Now obviously they've lived in captivity their whole lives so they've gotten used to what time they'll be getting fed and there's a few contraptions in the enclosure that they know will have food in them when it's time. But the zoo keepers have explained a few times that they're trying to make it as close to natural habitat as possible by having them search for the food/reaching into contraptions and having to get the food out/etc. I'm sure 20-25 years ago for some animals the zoo keeper probably just came in and tossed food from a bucket into the exhibit or some shit.

I'm also obsessed with the gibbons there and the young ones will interact with you through the glass and play with you and stuff so, I may be biased!

 

The kids in cages part they’re apparently fine with ... ? Heh. I hate people.

 

This is another reason why I'm not big on a Sanders/Warren ticket. If one of them winds, they need a POC on the ticket that can speak to issues that POC face. I don't know if it's Booker or Harris or Abrams or Castro or someone we haven't thought of yet, but it just can't be two white people IMO
