That is such bullshit. No results until they’re all available.

Also, 50% is not a "majority" of the results lol.

Now taking bets on how positive the 50% of the vote we’re going to get at 4:00 is for Pete

  10. I don’t know if any presidential candidates have used them this round. House candidates did in 2018.

Because private political firms that work for hire get hired by lots of people?

Some good threads on how silly it is to call anything rigged or shady because of how the process works:

  11. 50%? REALLY?

Man, releasing anything but the complete numbers at this point is such a bad idea.

  14. Seems like Iowa is just...pointless now. Like, on to New Hampshire.

  15. Pretty positive cause he had a good night and will probably finish #2. (Margin from 1-2 and 2-3/4 is what we need to know for delegate splitting.)

  16. I think they should release all numbers at once in all elections, but the cable news would lose their minds.

Why are we mad about 50% for any reason other than we won’t know it all yet? Results trickle in on election night and we usually go hours without knowing the full results in states.

  18. This made me laugh.

Would not be surprised in the slightest if these results show him in the lead, only for Bernie to come back and take the win once the full results are in, is my point

  20. So ... like any election where the top candidates jockey for position as results come in? I ... don't get your point ... you're just describing: an election.

  21. Yap, that's virtually exactly what I heard last night.

There's no telling how long the rest of the results will take to come in, and also in no other election does one candidate both declare victory despite zero official results being in and then get up to a full day of positive coverage (including a few precious pre-SOTU hours) with none of the other candidates really in a position to respond. Also, following this debacle, it's just plain irresponsible to release partial results no matter which candidate comes in on top in the early portion.

  24. I get this is your first rodeo, but come on, so much of this is not true. We've had candidates declare victory WHEN LOSING before! Clinton did it! Lieberman did it! In my lifetime. Candidates declare victory with 10% of the returns in trying to get on TV. And Pete wasn't the first on TV last night, Amy was. And his press coverage over what he said hasn't been very positive. A lot of it has been 'wtf you talking about'. And all the other candidates have responded. Hell, Bernie released his own internal numbers (but only 40%, which was weird) that showed him winning.

  25. The more interest in politics at least will get people to realize how fucking weird politics really is.

I'm waiting for some tweet to go viral about an Amy or Pete supporter or some other "partisan" being a caucus captain.
