I was reading the NYT interview for Yang and this blurb came up toward the end “One area we had hoped to ask about but ran out of time was climate solutions, specifically diving deep on his plans for nuclear energy.”

how about you ask the policy oriented questions first and save the silly questions for the end instead of the other way around? What a concept, right?

I would be ugly crying so fucking hard if this happens. When I started school I really took out the minimum amount of loans I needed to go to school, but was then diagnosed with Hodgkin's Lymphoma later in my college career and was unable to work. I really wanted to finish my degree, but knew that I had to choose either to work and provide for my family or go to school because I wasn't going to be able to do both while getting chemo treatments. So I got maxed out loans to offset the wages I would lose for not working full time and I ended up choosing to finish my degree, because I absolutely believed the "go to school, work hard, get a good job, pay your loans off easily" lie that was fed to me my whole life.

I graduated from college in 2009 with around 60,000-70,000 in student loan debt. Now with interest it has gotten up to a little over 100,000 dollars. So, with old medical debts from cancer that are still on my credit report, the 2 times I've defaulted on my loans because I can't maintain a 700+ a month payment, and having 3 kids who I need to provide for my credit is absolute garbage. Which means we have to rent a house.

Now, I would normally not care too much about renting instead of owning, but with my town being hit by that pesky category 5 hurricane that was completely forgotten about there is absolutely nowhere to rent. We were fortunate enough to take "minimal" damage and the owner of our house doesn't live here and has no idea how bad our town was actually hit (along with 99.99% of the world). So, he hasn't kicked us out yet and raised the rent by 500-1000 dollars like has happened to so many people I know. All I know is that when our lease is up in a few months if he decides to do this (which he very well may) I have no idea what we are going to do. Our credit is ruined because of cancer/student loans/cat 5 hurricane and we can't leave this town because we have parental agreements set up with our children that we have from previous marriages. It's absolutely terrifying and if I could get this student loan debt off my shoulders it would greatly help not only my financial health, but my mental health as well.

So, after that long convoluted rant I can tell you right now that Bernie has got two votes down here in Florida for sure.

  5. I haven't seen anything due to all the drama and impeachment stuff, but has Sanders's campaign agreed to start with canceling some of it via executive order as well? I'm all about everything that circumvents congress to actually get shit done right away. I don't think a republican congress is gonna pass dick for a democrat.

Shit, this just reminded that I need to change from being an independent to a democrat so I can vote in the primaries. Is it too late for me to do this?

I think I have asked this before in here, but I don't know if anyone knew the answer. Anyway after I vote in the primary can I change by voter address to another state to vote in the general? Currently I am registered in NJ and was going to vote for the NJ primary, but then change my address to PA (since I go to college here) so that I can vote in PA for the general since my vote obviously matters more there. I don't know the deadlines for changing registration but that shouldn't be an issue right?

    Do you know CT's date?

  15. Do you actually need to change your address? In 2008 I voted in Wisconsin when I was in college even though my address and ID was Minnesota. I think it's different if you're a student but I'm not sure what's going on in PA.

  16. it seems like if you're unregistered you can do it pretty much the day before the primary, but if you're already registered and want to switch affiliation you need to do it 3 months before the primary, so 1/28 Registration Deadlines

I don't know, I have never registered to vote in PA, my driver's license is in NJ, etc., so I would think I am certainly not on file to vote in PA or anything I wouldn't think. Not sure how it works lol

Did you have to fill anything out or do anything special when you voted in WI?

  20. I know in most states you can definitely register there as a student and just use your dorm or other temporary address, although iirc some states have tried to ban that. that might've been in the UK actually though. but you should definitely be able to, I was able to choose between CT and MA.
