So wait was the call bank script fake or not?

 

Probably 20/80 lol there was an article about it in like march? I'm trying to remember who put it out

 

It wasn't the campaign script, just something some random person wrote and posted online.

 

It’s an unsubstantiated rumor about a direct conversation that they had. Warren and her team would be the exact ones to substantiate it or not; they could nip it in the bud. I don’t get how simply not commenting doesn’t blatantly come across as passively letting the rumor go unchallenged

That's true but if it were not meant to do what they're letting it, she would have said something by now. It's not like her staff is holding her hostage lol

 

I also think there's a genuine sympathy for her from media members on that issue because it never seemed like she was knowingly lying about it throughout her career. She was basing what she knew about her families roots on what her grandmother was telling her and TBH that's the only thing people in her generation often knew about where they came from. Getting the DNA test and then 'bragging' about your 2% or whatever was monumentally stupid and insensitive though, to say the least.

I know I'm part NA but it's also very easy to see by looking at my one uncle and aunts or even my mom a little bit. We also have pictures of my grandparents' parents and grandparents and at least one of them is legit from pre-Assimilation efforts, wearing typical native american attire and everything. I don't know where that picture is now but I'd love to find it, I last saw it as a teenager.

 

what does Warren have to gain from a story like this? All it does is cause division.

 

I agree.

My guess would be she does eventually refute it. But of course the narrative is already written so that statement will do nothing.

This sucks. I desperately wanted them to team up to take down Biden and Pete before Iowa.

I'm gonna hold off judgement until we hear what they have to say tomorrow during the debates, because I assume that's gonna come up.

CNN is hosting this shit, no chance they pass up the opportunity to bring up some political cat fight shit that their story started haha

a story like this is going to change exactly zero minds. All it'll do is cause certain Bernie stans to become even more entrenched in their support for Bernie and some Warren stans to become event more entrenched in their support for Warren. I don't think there is anyone out there who was thinking "Well I was into Bernie but after hearing these unsubstantiated claims now I'm gonna vote for Warren"

 

I’ve seen some extremely petty (the nice way of saying it) shit from Bernie campaign staff and surrogates.

 

There are absolutely people who like both Bernie and Warren who don’t follow the horse race who will hear stuff like this and have it impact the way they feel. Literally the biggest attack of Bernie on the progressive side of the Dems is that he’s an old white man who hates identity politics. This just adds flames to that fire.

 

I disagree. I don't see how the story in its current form at all helps Warren. If she stays silent its a bad look. If she confirms, she torpedoes any shot at the dems beating Trump regardless of who gets the nom. Only real move is to deny, but then how does the story getting out there first help? Try and subconsciously get people to think Bernie is sexist despite the denials?

 

This assumes he didn't say anything at all like that ... what happens if Warren comes out and says, "yeah, he implied or said he doesn't think a woman could win"? Would it be better to no comment or say that? The no comment leads me to believe there's maybe some truth to the story. It could very well be less explosive than the headline but still have some truth to it. I dunno, lots of people have said they think it's very hard for a woman to win POTUS, that can be worded in various ways from "sounding like a sexist jackass" to "commenting on a very real political dynamic that takes into account sexism in this country."
