  5. The bottom line is that at least 3m people who voted Labour in 2017, simply didn’t vote in 2019. That was the big shift. Not to the Liberal Democrats, not to the Greens, not even to the Brexit party, many of whose votes would otherwise have gone Tory. We lost millions to abstention.

We thought the ‘ground game’ would be decisive. We thought we had pretty good data, and the canvassing was encouraging toward the end. We thought the polls were missing something big. In fact, the huge canvassing and ‘get out the vote’ operation appears to have helped in London and a number of the marginals which we won in 2017. We kept places that we normally wouldn’t if we were losing, like Enfield Southgate, Canterbury and Bedford. We held Battersea and won Putney. Yet it fell completely flat elsewhere. If the ‘youthquake’ happened at all, then it probably happened only in big cities and university towns. The worrying thing is what could have happened even in those cities if it weren’t for that ground operation. Yes, comrades, it can go lower.

“Throughout the day, and for several hours on Wednesday, committee members delivered partisan talking points in support of or opposition to Trump's impeachment. Republicans offered several amendments that were rejected.”

what the fuck kind of journalism is this? Man, I’m glad I don’t write anymore and have to pretend to both sides everything. It just needs to be said that republicans spent all afternoon spitting conspiracy theories and garbage.

In times of despair we must all learn to embrace the Daoist-esque harmony of Pauly Walnuts. Flow through the river, and let the river flow through you

If UK Labour and Scottish Labour can't agree on fundamental Scottish issues, then what chance will they ever have in Scotland? For example, Trident. Scottish Labour don't want it, but UK Labour do. Even the UK Labour folk on the debates have in my opinion, not stood their ground confidently in their Trident position.

My house (Glasgow) is an hour drive from Faslane & subsequently Trident. I have been out on the Clyde and all of a sudden been surrounded by these chaps and told to change course. It will send chills down you realizing how close you are to Trident!

How anyone outside of the top four hasn’t dropped out yet is so dumb.

And two of those top four should be non starters but the world we have is bad.
