If you want to talk about art with other people there needs to be a generally agreed upon objective experience where what I watched and what someone else watched has enough in common that we’re having the same conversation.

Sure. But if someone thinks Jeanne Dielman is trash and I find out they watched it at 1.5x or 2x speed to get through it quicker then that should be the caveat that leads anything they say about it so everyone can know to ignore what they have to say.

I think about one of my favorite scenes in cinema over the past few years, of an actress just eating pie, alone, on the kitchen floor for an excruciatingly long and painful time. The idea of that scene at 2x and then trying to talk about the film is worse than nails on a chalkboard. It actively ruins the scene. You might as well inject fart noises into the soundtrack.

 

Does this priest not realize that there was definitely other people at that church receiving communion who have the same views on abortion as Biden?
