My advice to David's sister in law's bf is too not live in LIC. But I don't want him to live in another Queens neighborhood, so live in New Jersey. Yeah do that.

I make ~50K before taxes now....I'd still be renting a one bedroom place somewhere and struggling if not for the whole being married thing. Only reason why I even have savings is the money we got from the wedding. Even before the baby I was roughly paying out in bills what I'm making every month.

Maybe if I was just buying food for one I'd be saving a few bucks I suppose.

He's a Long Islander by birth and I'm pretty sure that precludes him from ever living in Jersey lol

Or Staten Island, for that matter.

Honestly yeah. I don't have a second income anymore and I'm literally breaking even at the moment. I either need to get back to school or get a job at like $80k+ lol. If I move in with the lady, my expenses will go up a few hundred and that's not gonna work for me.

  6. Next year when I transition from working for a private company to being a teacher, I'll probably cut my salary by like 40%. It's gonna be dope as shit.

Income is bullshit, make everything free and don't give anyone a dime because they'll stack em.

Jersey and Long Island are like the same thing. Mannn i say stay in Long Island. Take the LIRR like all the other folks on the Island in my office. He loves it not really.

Nah but really LIC is like gentrified to fuck, he could live somewhere just as nice and much cheaper if he wanted to. Unless he supports mayor Pete, then he has to move back to LI or actually, he has to move to Delaware.

Lol all the long islanders i know despise Jersey, and vice versa. I always think back to that Daily Show bit with Samantha B and the guidos.

The LIRR is awesome, but I say that as someone from an area where public transportation is nonexistent except for one septa line into Philly that doesn't even run past like 10 PM. So the LIRR and the NY subway system is like a godsend to me.

  20. MN is one of the better states for teacher salaries but as a first year teacher who knows what I'll get. I am getting my master's though so that should help

listen like i grew up in extremely privileged circumstances and i still have tons of privilege with the safety net of my parents in an absolute emergency but otherwise they have completely cut me off due to my ongoing problems with substance abuse (no real problems in the last 6-7 months but thats not that long) and i barely make 24k, and week to week which is how i am forced to live my income is wildly unpredictable. i live with constant anxiety that my lights are going to get shut off or im going to get evicted because i cant see any feasible way to come up with next months rent, i have hundreds in parking tickets from an expired inspection i cant afford to go get done at the moment, i owe the gas company like 2 grand from some bullshit that happened at my last apartment, not to mention personal debts i owe to people, there's a zero percent chance ill be able to start having any sort of money saved up in the foreseeable future so to see people talking about their 50K + incomes like they're barely holding on when i would do fucking anything for even 35K....yeah it feels pretty fucking shitty to get ignored until i had to say something again

the point was people can have wild amounts of compounded debt regardless of what their income is. that doesn’t seem like that difficult of a concept. i’m sorry if it made you feel like i was passing up your issues. i feel like we’ve know each other long enough to make it pretty clear that isn’t what i was doing.
