Yeah the focus should be on rallying the rest of the country. His base is like 20%, most people are just tuned out most of the time, something has to make them care.

"Back"? He's barely above 43%. The month after the Mueller report he was at like 41%. This is a horrible, just horrible, result for a sitting president. This analysis makes zero sense.

 

Depending on the scope of the hearings and how they are handled (let the lawyers, rather than the members of congress, do the questioning for the love of god)...there is a real possibility that this hurts him. (Whether it hurts him enough to overcome gerrymandering and voter suppression in crucial states is another thing entirely.)

But beyond that, it is the right thing to do and it is shameful that it took this long.

 

To be clear, I don't give a shit about his base and I'm glad that most of the democrats in office don't either. I'm just wondering how Trump perceives this

I don't know, maybe I'm just overly cynical, but this doesn't really strike me as much different than the campaign finance violation fiasco. Unless they can definitively prove that aid was specifically redacted and would only be given if Hunter Biden was investigated, then I don't see how they'll get anywhere with this. Again, I truly hope I'm wrong. I would never stop cry-laughing if he left the office in disgrace.

This is much different than the campaign finance violation. It’s the biggest crime he has committed while in office. It’s bigger than Watergate. You are wrong.

He and Giuliani simply acknowledged that Trump did, in fact, speak with the Ukrainian president. And, yes, Trump said that the funds were placed on hold a week earlier, but only because he wanted other countries to pitch in their share.

You know this is bullshit. I know it's bullshit. However, no crime has been admitted or proven.
