This is so frustrating because there’s like zero anyone can do to stop it.

Whoever the Dem nominee is has to be pushed to pressure Brazil to stop the Amazon destruction somehow but I don’t know how

 

I’m so terrified by this. It was obvious it would happen when he was elected but by the time anything happens he could destroy everything.

 

So an issue near and dear to me that you wont hear in the news is the recent protests in West Papua a land annexed into Indonesia back in the 60s after the military rounded up the tribe elders in a "vote." Freeport-McMoRan a US company operates the largest copper and gold mine on the land in Indonesia's poorest province. The Indonesian occupation of West Papua has been described as colonialism, a slow moving genocide, and has resulted in countless human rights violations.

Papuans are ethnically Melanesian and being black they are at the bottom of the ethnic hegenomy in Indonesia in which the Javanese are basically at the top.

So yeah, if the rain forest is sold off and burns and collapses there’s just like no hope for humanity being able to live on this planet, right? This all feels very dystopian.
