Getting a cold in the summer is a bummer

Many ambulances now have electronic PCRs, which fix a lot of these problems. The report is automatically filed with the hospital. The software can enter timestamps and fill in necessary boilerplate. By spellchecking known medications it saves time at the hospital. Nobody has to guess whether you scrawled “100mg” or “160mg”.

The ambulance I shadowed had an ePCR. Nobody used it. I talked to the EMTs about this, and they said nobody they knew used it either. Lack of training? «No, we all got trained.» Crippling bugs? No, it worked fine. Paper was good enough? No, the ePCR was much better than paper PCRs in almost every way. It just had one problem: it was too slow.

It wasn’t even that slow. Something like a quarter-second lag when you opened a dropdown or clicked a button. But it made things so unpleasant that nobody wanted to touch it. Paper was slow and annoying and easy to screw up, but at least it wasn’t that.

I think about that a lot.

Tucker Carlson did a segment about me on Fox News. The president called me “disgusting” in a tweet. Shortly after the arrest of Mr. Sayoc, the MAGA bomber, the media discovered that he had sent me a death threat on Twitter.

Of the many threats of rape, dismemberment and murder sent to me and to my workplace, at least one was concerning enough that The New York Times filed a police report. But Mr. Sayoc’s tweet at me — a bizarre, confusing insinuation that my corpse was going to be dumped in the Everglades — barely pinged anyone’s radar, let alone my own, until he made the news for mailing pipe bombs.

 

Buy fresh ginger, grind it, pour hot water on it. “Enjoy”.

 

Can’t I just heat up some ginger ale or something

 

I literally just chug vitamin c and sleep as much as possible. Doesn’t help with the symptoms obviously but it definitely shortens the duration for me.

 

Pretty sure people used to drink hot cola for colds

 

Fisherman's Friend lozenges are the best cough drops IMO.

Humidifier and Vicks Vaporub work well for chest/decongestion as well.

Hot drinks. Theraflu, honey, green tea, stuff like that is good as well in my experience.

Ginger is also a home remedy for soar throat/lost voice. Singers I know swear by it

That's what reminded me of it I thought you were saying for general colds and stuff as opposed to specifically throat/vocal stuff

 

Actually I wasnt really posting it for health reasons I just wanted an excuse to make Jake drink hot ginger water for calling me a shit head or whatever 2 years ago

Fisherman's Friend!!! These are the absolute best! Any time I give these to people they usually say how bad they taste and I just yell at them "Are we trying to get better here or are we just eating candy?!?!?"

Also, I am not sick (knock on wood) but now I want a hot cola.

I only know the original like brown / menthol ones. I was unaware they made flavors.
