I don't know where else to post this but I just feel like I've lost what little family I had left.
My mom got fired from her serving job she had been at for 22 years a little over a month ago. She told me it was because she got one bad review and they didn't want to pay her benefits anymore so they used it as an exscuse to axe her.

I found out today from a friend who works there that she got fired for being racist and transphobic. She sat all the black customers on one side of the restaurant and all the white customers on the other side, in her section. The managers, other employees, and customers all noticed.
She would ask a trans employee(the one who is my friend) questions that are none of her business and inappropriate for a work environment.

I'm just alternating between seething mad and depressed. I've been so vocal about this shit since I was a teenager that I thought she would know better.
I didn't expect this situation to ever hit so close to home. I don't know if I want to yell at her or never see her again.

 

The fact that the main thing mainstream media is talking about from Bernie’s interview with Rogan is the silly question about aliens that he gave a joke answer to pisses me off. Literally I’ve seen so many headlines like “Bernie says if elected he’ll reveal the truth about aliens”

It shows you everything that is wrong with the mainstream media. They don’t like to cover actual substance

 

I went to a concert tonight and the thought of what I would do if there was a shooting unsurprisingly crossed my mind.

The concert was also outside and down the road was a hotel with like 20 floors. I thought about how there's nothing stopping someone from staying in one of the top floors and shooting a bunch of people from up there like they did in Las Vegas.

I still had a great time, but I wish those thoughts never had to cross my mind

 

That’s a pretty rough situation, man, and I feel for you. The only advice I can give is that it’s up to your mother to realize that how she acts is wrong. You can say everything you can but in the end, she has to realize that herself. Sorry if that’s not very helpful btw.

 

I have nothing to add or any advice but I’m sorry, man. I feel you on this and outside of ignoring what your mom/parents think, I don’t know what to do either.
