I really hope his backers stick with him on that for the greater good.

  5. Been trying to figure out a way to say this. The narrative over the Dem party has been super weird.

I agree. She was my second choice and I’ll happily vote for her for governor.

I too will back Gretchen, but I hope she follows through after eight years of Snyder. I feel like people underestimate how dangerously close Schuette is to winning this. He ran his opponent, Brian Calley, into the ground by reminding his constituents that Calley had renounced his endorsement of Trump and that Schuette was Trump’s preferred candidate. In his concession speech, Calley even acknowledged that this is “Trump’s Republican party now”. I’m legitimately worried.

Oh trust me I’m worried about that too. Would not be shocked to see another republican win which is awful. Schuette is beloved in the Justin Amash type circles which are continuing to overgrow the previous Republican Party. Will be interested in the first polls putting the two head to head.

Despite the ample hype over gigabit fiber and next-gen (5G) wireless, the reality is there are huge swaths of America where broadband competition is actually getting worse.

In countless markets nationwide, phone companies like Frontier, Verizon, and CenturyLink have all but given up on upgrading aging DSL lines at any real scale, pivoting instead to business services or flinging video ads at Millennials. This apathy has gifted cable giants with a greater monopoly over broadband than ever in many areas, especially at faster speeds.

^ lol. Came here to post that... literally just posted it in the programming thread.

Alt-text: "There are lots of very smart people doing fascinating work on cryptographic voting protocols. We should be funding and encouraging them, and doing all our elections with paper ballots until everyone currently working in that field has retired."

I interviewed at a company once that mentioned being meritocratic at least 10 times. Based on their glassdoor reviews it was mostly because turnover was so high you could have a shot at your bosses job after a year. Glad I didn't take that one.

Even when, not if, we hear him use the N word on any tapes, it won't make a bit of difference to his base. If anything, they'll be thrilled with it.
