I wouldn’t call Michigan “reallllly conservative.”

Tonight’s result was better than I expected. I didn’t see Abdul getting the votes he did and that is a small moral victory imo. Still sucks he didn’t win but the alternative isn’t exactly the worst in the world.

Now I saw 3 cops shilling for someone...Moody I think was her name? Not sure if it was for Governor or not. Don’t think so, but missed what office it was.

Bragged about being endorsed by Bondi and pro-Trump

This. I can’t help but feel like Dems are hitting their ceiling in these special elections, which isn’t necessarily going to translate to winning contested seats in November.

Folks are maximizing Dem turnout in these special elections because they’re off-cycle and there’s an anti-Trump focus on taking them back, but this whole idea of “X districts more red than this one” is a pretty flawed construct when you figure that means far more GOP folks will turn out in the midterms. It’s not like we’re going to get more Dem votes out of nowhere in 90 days.

I think it's almost guaranteed we'll have more dem votes in November though, there will be statewide elections as well as the house seat for every district. It won't be a random Tuesday in the summer for an election for 1 office.

Sure more goop voters (typo keeping it) will turn out too but saying that this is the ceiling for dem voters is wrong.

I would agree, Michigan is truly a purple state. I was super disappointed last night but it is obvious the Democratic Party in Michigan will have to recognize their progressive wing here in the state when you look at how much voted in that direction. Think the ballot initiatives will help keep some of the momentum and interested to see if Abdul gets involved in stumping for Whitmer. Also, interested in who the Lt. Governor she will pick will be.

I'm fine with Levine and Graham but it's a shame Gillum isn't getting more support.

  17. Minnesota primary is next week and I feel good about everything except Governor right now. We have 3 dem candidates in the primary, one of which is a moderate who is notoriously invisible both online and at public events, who also just got dragged for doing very bad things while she was AG. Our party's endorsed candidate is a progressive who supports single payer. And then we have Tim Walz, who is leading in the polls despite not having the party endorsement. The current fear is that the "progressive wing" will be splitting their votes between Walz and Murphy in the primary, essentially giving Lori Swanson a leg-up that she doesn't deserve. I'm kinda afraid for next week, but I think it'll end up being Walz and I'd be happy to vote for him if he takes the primary.

No matter how much I expect it, seeing the turn out numbers in any election always bums me out.

Abdul said throughout his campaign that he’ll be behind whoever wins the dem nom. He said he disagrees with her on things like corporate money in politics and whatnot but they agree on a decent amount of issues.

so the dem lost by 1000 votes in Ohio yesterday?

were there reports of voters being turned away due to machines not working or was that in Michigan only?
