Living with trump supporters is very bad for my mental health

 

I just needed somewhere to express that because I’m shaking.

 

Encountered some alt right/proud boy types in the wild for the first time tonight. Heard "soy boy" said out loud unironically. As embarrassing in person as you'd imagine.

 

My mom's live in boyfriend is and visiting even for a week is awful, I cant imagine full time

 

My family is full of conservatives but luckily nobody really talks about it when we're together in-person

 

I wouldn’t make it.

 

Is it wrong that just one time I want someone to say this to me in person?

it would take a lot lot lot of money to implement any sort of human-based moderation strategy at scale on something the size of facebook. i can't find the link rn but the "Don't Feed The Trolls" article someone posted in here touches on it at the end; there's a pretty clear solve to all of these issues, and it's that you have real people check into content according to some set of reasonable guidelines. but doing so at scale without having grown it along with a service that's as big as FB/etc is a grossly huge problem to solve, and one without any immediate financial reason for fixing

so yeah, the data & metrics probably already exist, but having a system to alert people to suspicious data is still only as good as a) the people receiving the alerts/their motivation to care and b) the people who programmed the system, and it seems like none of the big companies particularly care about the quality of either!
