Did you actually watch the video you posted? He's saying the we need a progressive tax code that focuses on workers over investors. The Social Security and Medicare line that you're referring to is him saying that with no real growth in the economy as a result of the tax bill, those social programs aren't being properly funded to offset the money that was distributed to the rich.

 

The Army, in Need of Recruits, Turns Focus to Liberal-Leaning Cities

 

The National Guard came and did their sales pitch to my senior seminar class (well, the junior and senior seminar classes). No mention of war and being called into service, all about the money they can make (it’s not a lot but it sounds like a lot for 17 year olds) and the educational benefits (which actually are phenomenal).

I wouldn’t be surprised if they get at least 3-5 kids out of the 60 or so that we’re there

Part of the problem is that the recruiters lie through their teeth to hit numbers. I was promised loan repayment, got to my unit and found out it wasn't in my contract. I am still fucking devastated about it.

Fortunately though, they are paying for my current degree, and I'm aiming to start at NYU in the fall for my dream career/schooling. Fingers crossed.
