This is the 2018 version of Comey reopening the Hillary investigation. Cable news enables the Republicans to put visions of terrorism and brown people in your heads, all while Democrats quietly shrug in the background muttering “not true, hey let’s back to the real issues ya’ll”

This is going to be 2016 all over again.

 

Not sure how that's the democrats blowing it but based on the early voting stuff I've seen I have some slight hope

Sure hope so. I’m just hoping it’s a last desperate ploy to get their true racist shitbag base out since tax cuts and Brett didn’t work.

 

I've felt more confident over the last few weeks than I have in the last 6 months. But I'm starting to lose that confidence a liiiiitttle bit, not sure if that's anything more than just getting anxious for the election though.

 

I do live in Florida, so my lack of confidence could be due to the daily dose of baby boomer Trump supporters and coal-rolling raised pick ups flying the Confederate Flag and “If my flag offends you, then get out stickers”.

 

Yeah the idea that the Dems are “blowing it” is as ridiculous as buying a Fox News narrative. They’re outperforming every metric in this race so far. They should be getting *destroyed* with these economic fundimentals and map.

I don’t get these takes. You get mad when Dems address Trump too much and don’t run “on issues people care about” and now you’re blaming the closing argument from Dems very loudly running on health care and the tax scam for millionaires? Like come on. Shrug in the background? You aren’t paying attention or helping if you think that. It is categorically untrue.

To clarify meant more frustration at the media. Wasn’t fair of me to say the Dems are blowing it - their message has been on point and they are just caught in a bad spot now - the Republican viewpoint is amplified by the media covering the President and their talking points.

You posted the article before - the caravan is the #1 news story being covered right now. Democrats can say all the right things but the story the republicans want in the news right now is the one being covered. And yes, that kind of leaves the Democrats muttering in the background.

Like I said I’m also stuck seeing all this from a Florida lens as well - where Rick Scott and Ron DeSantis ads basically play around the clock. Gillum has kind of picked up the slack a little in the last two weeks but holy shit has Nelson basically thrown this one on autopilot.

 

I hate him so, so much. I’m surprised his incredibly racist attack ads haven’t made national news. Just trash.

 

This just makes me angry.

Some of us are working our fucking asses off and the news doing whatever while we phone bank and canvas and bank early voters is not muttering in the background. The constant work on making sure new voters and old voters know about the stakes of this election is not muttering in the background. Every single analysis of the dem message shows what the focus has been on in these races and it is not “muttering in the background.” If you’re mad get off your ass and do something. It’s so easy to complain about the Dems “blowing it” with negative post avtet negative post when you have no clue what is going on out there. It infuriates me every time you quote me with it. I don’t have a nice way to say this because it makes me legit mad. Im sorry for being a dick about it but it’s true.

 

Fair enough. And I appreciate what you are doing. It is way more than I have done and I do apologize if my venting on here has pissed you off.

I am mad. And I am frustrated. And I’ll be honest I’ feel hopeless. I wish I had the ability to turn that into something constructive like you and others have. At a minimum I did my part and voted and got my friends to do so as well.

I know simply voting pales in comparison to what others like you have done. And again I apologize that my negativity has been an annoyance on here. I will try to keep that in mind and not use this place as an area to vent.

 

It’s fine. Just please don’t quote my posts to do it. I can skim over other stuff but I read my replies. We’re all on edge.

 

If "thousands of people are trying to come here in search of a better life and Republicans want to turn them away" is a news story that is favorable to the republicans, we really should hit the reset button on this entire fucking country. There's no coming back from that.
