Can someone help me understand why it's likely that Dems will take back the House but not the Senate? Is it simply because there are less seats open for reelection in the Senate right now?

Otherwise, I just don't really understand why. I would think if someone votes for a Democrat in the House, they're going to do the same thing for Senate on that ballot

The predictions between house and Senate on FiveThirtyEight are polar opposites

 

Two factors:

Which seats are in play. There are a bunch of dem senators in red/purple states up for reelection but not many Republican senators in blue/purple states.

Also the structure of the Senate. California gets like 45 congressional seats but only 2 Senate seats where Wyoming gets one congressional seat and 2 Senate seats. So even if all the Senate seats were up for reelection, Republicans would fair better in the Senate than the house because they do better in smaller states

 

Holy shit. I clicked on the original tweet. It’s part of a thread where this guy lists his “hot takes” that undergird his general philosophy.

It’s quite something. Like a 40 tweet thread of some of the most egregious ass showing I’ve ever seen.

“voter fraud and voter suppression has no impact on the outcome of an election” Lol! Ok, sure man. As though the Republican’s would keep suppressing votes so vigorously if it didn’t materially impact their chances to win.

My guess is he probably reads the same polling data that sends me into tailspins every week.

 

I hope that’s wrong about FL and TX or the margin to makeup is gonna be almost impossible.
