Service dogs can be trained to alert when a diabetic is experiencing symptoms from low blood sugar. They are extremely valuable. Especially for a young kid who might not fully understand. The dog would alert others that there was something wrong.

 

They are trained to alert them of high or low blood sugar, especially if they are someone who can have it happen quickly without any symptoms.

 

Yep. This. I have a friend who had one when he was a kid and I remember watching it in action. Dogs are awesome.
