I think you're technically supposed to report it to your state but I'm not exactly sure how

 

i think my nightmare right now is that the sickness I have right this second is flu but that I’m about have covid too after being exposed to a bunch of now positive covid cases on Sunday and Monday

I dated an amazing woman from there for a year, who I met at grad school while she was a grad student there for the year, before the long distance became too much to handle for us. While dating I visited Norway two different times, and became completely enamored with country, from it's amazing mountains, great food, friendly people, great public transportation, an actual functioning government that gets things done, etc. Growing up in Minnesota, there's not much true adventure to be had, so while I wasn't with the woman who made me fall in love with the country anymore, I still felt these COVID times gave me the perfect opportunity to make this crazy move and start my life fresh in 2022, at the age of 35. Don't even have a job lined up yet (been saving money like mad since last year), so at the moment I could go in many different directions going forward, which is slightly anxiety-inducing, but also very exciting.

Norway is definitely one of the top countries I'd like to go on vacation someday. Looks super beautiful and with a competent society

You were able to move to a Nordic country without having a job lined up and no marriage? I thought this is fairly difficult to do?

 

Well technically right now I’m living in an AirBnB, as a “tourist”, so I can technically be here for 90 days, but in reality there’s no way for the government to know how long I’ve been here. To get a work visa I’ll first need a job offer; once I have that I can then submit that offer in my visa application, pay $600, and voila, visa permit received. Then at that point I can go get an apartment. So the onus is on me to get a job sooner than later, but I’ve saved up so much money to ensure I can be jobless here for many months if needed. It was very tough getting interviews with companies previously over Skype, so my chances will improve greatly by now being on the ground here

 

yea honestly everyone says get a job lined up before you move but like no one ik has been able to do that w a move. if you have to relocate employers usually see that as a risk of wasting their time and not give you the time of day. id imagine its like that 10x for international relocation.

i tried to move only a few hours away right before covid lockdown hit and iirc of a few dozen job applications i got only 2 or 3 interviews lol.

 

Yeah my wife's cousin's boyfriend's parents (that's a mouthful) house burned down :/
