I think the fanciest room I ever stayed in was in Atlantic City. I booked a standard room and for whatever reason when we got there we got a free upgrade to a small suite on the waterfront. Didn’t get anything THAT extra but it did come with complimentary valet parking and like $100 in slot credits lol

Law of diminishing returns. You could probably find a very nice room for half the cost and take that 300 and do something else. You'll spend 600 on the room then probably eat at the four seasons for like 150 a person at least and by the time you're done you've spent a grand on a hotel room and dinner. I forbid you to do this lol.

I think I already know where we’re eating, will hopefully cost us about $150 total lol. Not counting drinks tho.

 

My cousin was telling me today that he’s only going to get the vaccine if covaxin (India’s vaccine) becomes available here because that’s the only one that’s actually made from the coronavirus as opposed to the mRNA technology.

I found that interesting because I feel a lot of vaccine skeptics say they don’t want it because they think it could give you the virus. I know that’s the case with the flu vaccine, even though it’s an inactivated vaccine they still claim it could give you the flu.

but seriously I hate drone warfare in general but these seem like a particularly horrible thing:

Ooooo I didn't know that was a thing. I'll have to check this out. And in a city like Philly I think there's only so many places and they all look nice from what I've seen.

 

When my wife and I first started dating we drove down to Philly and stayed at a high-rise type hotel and went to a concert at the Mann Center. It was an awesome trip. The hotel was really nice but I don't think the rooms were anywhere near $600 per night. That's nuts.

 

this whole convo prompted me to look into it and it starting to make a little sense. Just opened up 3 years ago so completely brand new. Apparently the tallest hotel in the country which was shocking to me. And in Philly that means pretty much unobstructed views of the city since it doesn’t really have a ton of skyscrapers. So I guess that’s what they’re going on. It DOES seem a bit more “luxury” compared to the other fancy ones I’m seeing in city (ritz Carlton, Bellevue, etc).

Hard to imagine they get a lot of clientele just passing through though at those prices. Has to be exclusively business trips and couples looking to celebrate like we are.

 

I'm just having fun teasing you, but if you guys can swing it then I'd say absolutely go for it. It'll be an awesome time. Fuck it, it's just money. You can always go make more.

The way I’m trying to talk myself into it is “well, we didn’t go or are not going anywhere else for any of our other of the first 4 anniversaries, so really it’s taking the savings from not traveling for any of those years and putting it all into one year” lol. And there’s definitely a little bit of post-covid antsy-ness setting in. Vaccinated, numbers going down, end of the school year looming. My wife is ready to GO lol

 

Yeah from what I read the “Comcast Building” where it’s located used to be a few blocks over but they moved back in 2018

 

Moose are assholes. We passed a ballot question to reintroduce wolves back into CO last year I think or 2019.

haha maybe I’d feel that way if I had to live around them. But when we did our first road trip they were like #1 on my list of animals I wanted to see because I had never seen one. I have a ton of pictures and some videos of moose in RMNP and Grand Tetons
