The fact that only 35% of the senate can vote against something and that is enough to block it is totally absurd

At the very least, even if you're gonna use the filibuster, make another 5 senators go on the record saying they don't want an investigation.

also: how were the republicans able to have so many benghazi investigations despite never having 60 votes in the senate? Did democrats not filibuster that??

Democrats are bad at this. This does not bode well for the future of our country.

  10. They announced their house investigation committee thing a while back, I haven’t been paying attention to it.

I saw a post in my town's Facebook group from someone who went to the store today and they were wearing their mask despite the mandate no longer being in place and many others not wearing one, and 3 people came up to them to tell them they don't need to wear one anymore. They said they just ignored the people.

What's a good response to use for when this inevitably happens to me? How can I say "fuck off" in a nicer way

  14. I think telling them to fuck off is fair game imo. Why lie?

Can we stop adding "for vaccinated people" when it is ever so obvious that it's simply "no one needs to wear a mask anymore if you don't want to regardless of vaccination status"

I've had quite a few people come up to me recently and tell me I don't need to wear a mask anymore. Most of the time I am pretty polite and I'll say something like "oh I know, I want to still wear this though" or "yeah so I've heard, but I'm more comfortable still wearing this though." Depending on my mood and how pushy the person is, I've gone with just saying "Yeah, I know" and continued wearing my mask while ignoring anything else they say about masks.

One time another parent at soccer really wouldn't drop it and was sort of pushing me to take the mask off and I loudly said "Hey - you don't have to worry about what the fuck I'm doing. Why don't you worry about what the fuck you're doing? Sound good??" but my wife did get mad at me for that one and said I made a scene.

It actually is a little bit fun to see how people come at you and then tailor your response to that. I do feel like a few of the people genuinely were pointing out that the rule or guideline has changed in a way like they thought maybe I was unaware, and then some people are just being pushy twats and throwing it at you almost like a challenge.

Just went out to dinner and was pretty surprised that only one member of their staff had a mask on. I feel pretty good about being vaccinated, but still seems early for workers to be maskless..

Would like more details on this, because I just... don’t see it. But I’m obviously not an expert. Anyone know?

Basically, my understanding is that no one since Reagan has even proposed anything that is even neutral on inequality (as opposed to actively increasing it), so throwing a bunch of money at already existing government programs is a change. But, yeah, it ignores a bunch of key proposals that would make a signficant difference and nothing is going to get passed anyway because by the time the Dems finally realize that filibuster needs to go, Congress will be long gone
