This is one of those "walk into the ocean" moments.

 

Oxford isn’t far from where my wife and I live. Yesterday when it happened we got an email for the surrounding districts letting us know that our son’s school for kindergarten and 1st grade (2nd - 6th is in another building) was on lockdown. When my son got home he told us that the other day they did a “Stranger Danger” drill at the school in case somebody wanted to come in and hurt them. I asked him if he was scared and he said he didn’t understand who wanted to hurt him.

He’s 6.

My heart broke.

 

It honestly seems like my days fluctuate between two moods: a deep well of sadness and an almost manic cynicism.

I swear I used to have more moods. There was happiness in there once.

 

You didn't know that separating black people from white people and into inferior school buildings and public services and etc is exactly the same as the government not being able to tell women what they can do with their bodies?

 

The Democratic Party is fucking useless

 

I swing between full-on rage and calm resignation. It's fun!
