These just make me sad now.

I watched a YouTube video where a reporter went to Arkansas (I think) to interview people in the ICU about vaccines and why they don't want them, and this one chubby guy with a beard with an oxygen mask on was struggling to breathe while talking to the camera about how it's someone's freedom and choice whether they want a vaccine and nobody should be pressured or forced to do anything. They did a little aside with the doctor treating him and she just looked so fucking defeated. She just said something like 'I think soon he is going to have to go on the ventilator, and I don't anticipate him coming off of it alive'. 9 days after the video was filmed he was a corpse.

I can remember watching the situation unfold in Italy back towards the beginning of the pandemic and feeling an overwhelming and soul-crushing horror looking at the number of deaths there when the number was around (I think) 3,000 - just not being able to stop thinking about how those are 3,000 human beings who just suffered horribly and died, and the medical workers struggling in vain to keep people alive in such a horrific and fucked up situation.

I never would have believed I could be so numb to 637,254 deaths and steadily racking up more and more each day.

It feels like being in a weird horror movie where people argue that it is their individual freedom and right to walk into traffic or walk off the side of a building. I have people in my own close family who argue with me almost daily when I see them about how people should have a right to choose when to comes to vaccines and masks and all of that. It feels so fucking misguided at this point in time. It is such a weird time to make that argument and literally choose that hill to die on. It's like standing in a room that is on fire and people are trying to get you to leave the room and you're yelling that you don't like to be told what to do and it's your right to stay right there.

 

Driving home from camping this weekend and saw this.

My wife tells me the same thing! Living in rural PA, I do see this stuff somewhat often and I make a point to be an extremely annoying (but safe) driver

 

I've been debating buying a dash cam. They are pretty inexpensive and I look at too much idiots in cars on Reddit.
