The combination of both how bad democrats are at their jobs, plus the sheer level of bad faith arguing coming from the media and the right feels like it somehow reaches newer and newer highs

Feels like there is zero room for the actual nuance needed to be like "Yes, mistakes were made in the withdrawal effort but this was still the overall right action". Getting out of Afghanistan without further violence would've been a miracle, but of course it wouldn't have been protrayed that way. And now that there has been violence instead of understanding that it was probably unavoidable... its gonna be years of Benghazi on steroids

Its wild to see how ridiculous the media is acting when I haven't seen a single person online or in person really care about this. Any loss of life is sad but maybe we're just desensitized because of the half a million Americans who just died and the thousands dying everyday, this shit doesn't seem to even register.

Glad we're getting out of Afghanistan, I would be furious if the hawks trick Biden into getting back in.

to believe otherwise is to remove a layer of "safety" that americans believe they have in the world, a safety that is sold to us to keep throwing money into the military complex with our tax dollars ... so getting anyone to believe differently seems relatively impossible

Everything after mid-2002 in Afganistan when Al Qaeda had been pushed to Pakistan/the border mountains and the Taliban was essentially non-existent has been a manufactured war. Being there in the first place wasn't justified, but at least Al Qaeda actually existed there in the beginning until summer 2002.
