Long, nuanced (and I don't think fear-mongering) thread on waning immunity from the vaccines

 

I don’t agree with this. Our infrastructure desperately needs fixing. The bipartisan bill does allocate a lot of $$ to do that. Obviously the reconciliation bill is much bigger and better, but having both bills sink just guarantees infrastructure probably won’t happen for who knows how long, could be another few years.

 

Yeah if the infrastructure bill actually gets sunk by progressives, the media will make sure they get more of the blame than Sinema does. It fucking sucks but it’ll probably be what happens.

Nah, kill both bills if reconciliation doesn’t pass. The progressives know what will happen to them for doing this if both bills sink and they clearly are ok with the consequences. It’s about what’s right. The media is already against them anyway.

 

Tbf, I think Ing finished 3rd or 4th in that primary. Still have no idea how that happened, I thought he was popular in Hawaii

 

If both bills die, Democrats get nothing but scrutiny for blowing up anything good because they didn’t get exactly what they want, lose re-election, and then republicans come up with an even smaller and worse infrastructure bill that they pass and it looks like they did something (if they even come up with one at all, maybe we’ll just never get infrastructure money)

 

its not the progressives or Sinema that'll get blamed. it'll be the democrats as a whole. they'll be (probably accurately) portrayed as being in complete disarray unable to get anything done and as a result, 2022 will be a bloodbath.

 

Well yeah that's what I meant in general, but it'll be framed as "Democrats pushed too far left and sunk the bill" and etc

 

sure but like, it just shows how honestly unfortunately the progressives need to cave. because the problem is that the moderate dems see the republicans winning as being better than the progressives winning. so they won't actually mind the "republicans get a huge majority in the house" scenario where as everyone else will be fucked if that happens
