So are the Afghan War vets gonna be like Vietnam vets, by which I mean they’re always wearing a hat to let people know they fought in said war and demand people to kiss their shoes because people were mean to them back when?

 

My boss tested positive last week and I just found out they didn't inform the people that we share a small room with that they were exposed. One of which has severe asthma. I've been working from home so I wasn't impacted. What is the company's responsibility? They've been sending vague company-wide emails when someone tests positive, but aren't informing people who've been directly exposed. I understand people's right to privacy, but this seems fucked up and irresponsible.

to be fair, letting Brett Favre administer a vaccine seems like a terrible idea. There is like a 20% chance it would end up in the wrong arm.

I mean, I see a HUGE difference between Vietnam and Korean vets than the more contemporary wars. A good chunk of those people were sent there without much of a choice. If you were poor, you were going. I don't see anything inherently racist about being proud that you basically survived. The shit that went down there was fucking atrocious. People were ordered to do shit they shouldn't have been doing. Its all a fucking mess.

I always make sure to have conversations with those people because a lot of them are seriously fucked up as a result of what they did or saw. Everyone is entitled to call them scum or whatever. To me they are just the lucky ones.

If I see a fucker with a Afghan or Iraq hat, I will laugh them out of their shoes. So fucking dumb. No one gives a shit about those stickers on your car, my dude.

 

None of that is to downplay the Asian side. I feel for them too.

The Vietnam and Korean Wars were wars of imperialist aggression against Asian people fighting off colonization.

The hats assign a positive value in purpose of these wars. Be glad you survived. Don't wear the hat. Plenty people don't.

 

Also much American Anti-Asian racism is tied to Imperialism in the Pacific and ASia, So yes these hats are racist.

I actually feel like it's bad when these anti-vax/mask politicians get it because a) he's vaccinated and will be fine and b) he'll spin this into 'I had covid and it was no big deal (and he'll leave out the vaccine part) so don't be scared and give in to mandates'. NOBODY in Texas that agreed with his stances will have their mind changed.
