So yeah. 10k is going to help a lot of people. But there are also millions of Americans out there that this'll be just a drop in the bucket.

Read somewhere today that for Americans over 35 who still have student loans, they are like 300% of what the original loan was.

If you're not just gonna forgive everything (which like, why not) at the very least should forgive the people who have already paid their original loan back in interest but still owe more because of how interest works.

Regarding the student loan news coming today, whatever you do, DO NOT read Twitter comments related to it, hahahah; you'll want to stab your eyes out if you do

To me this should be so easy for Biden - the more he forgives, the more votes the Dems will get in November and in 2024

Even better: he's forgiving your loans and cutting you a check for the amount you previously owed.

    You can ignore Andrew Tate

When I was a junior in high school, the boys in my class discovered and deployed with great regularity the joke that women “belonged in the kitchen.” I don’t know where they learned it (Tucker Max, probably?), but beyond being misogynistic and rude, it was also sort of fascinating. It seemed that once the boys were old enough to understand what sexism was, they saw its opposition as a threat.

This example is not to excuse the insipid and often violent beliefs of many young men, but rather to contextualize just how uninteresting, juvenile, and well-trodden this brand of reactionary anti-feminism is. Yet the internet is good for nothing if not repacking the same tired bullshit into something that looks shiny and new, and its latest iteration of women-hating man combines all of this with other trends of the moment: hustle culture, shock jockery, fighter sports, and, hilariously, pyramid schemes.

My bad. I didn't read it correctly. His student loan forgiveness plan is actually that he forgives you for having to take out student loans to pay for your education, but honestly you should have planted more tomatoes you poor schmuck.

Kids! I have a kid! Every kid is wildly different!

My wife and I were married 12 years before having a kid. We were lucky to travel a lot. We had what felt like the right amount of time for us to get mentally prepared for a kid. And we were/are. No way would we have been ready when we were younger. And, yeah, there are some days where we're still not prepared. I don't believe anyone, unless they're a complete half-wit with no interests, who says they don't at least have some residual selfishness for more free time to pursue their interests after they've had a kid.

Our kid has slept straight through the night with basically no issues since day 1. A lot of that is pure luck (genetics); some of that is pure discipline with keeping almost the exact same bedtime every night. The kid is a toddler now. No terrible twos. Again, luck and discipline. If we say something simple like, "no ice cream if you don't eat broccoli" then, well, no goddamn ice cream if no broccoli. Clearly defined expectations and consistency. Sometimes that's easy, sometimes not.

The kid sometimes makes me super anxious. The kid sometimes makes me feel more alive than I've ever felt.

And, yeah, what a place of privilege to have a kid in the era where having a child could actually be planned. Crazy. My wife had bodily autonomy. Weird.

Legitimately asking, what does genetics have to do with a kid sleeping through the night

My kid is 3 and still doesn’t sleep through the night. Has nothing to do with discipline she’s just always been like that.

She just has a calm, patient personality that she clearly gets from my wife. And she is a crazy deep sleeper, also like my wife. If she doesn't fall asleep right away, she'll look at books until she does.

I don't know, maybe simply saying "genetics" is reductive, but I have to believe at least some of that is baked in.
