they’re what could legally be done as far as I can tell lol. He can’t just do “abortion is still legal” as an EO. I mean he could but it would be toothless and not actually keep abortion legal or be enforceable.

But forcing hospitals to adhere to certain standards is a bit more doable

My wife and I have this conversation all the time. If you think Colorado is bad, Washington is even worse off lol. We were just there visiting her cousin who lives in Everett (about 30 miles north of Seattle) and it would have been 2 hours to take public transit into Seattle because of all the different transfers you'd have to do vs just driving 30 mins.

To their credit, they're currently building a direct transit line that goes up North but it isn't projected to open for another 5 or so years AND on top of that, the officials have already admitted that these lines aren't going to be enough to keep up with the demand

Deleted last post on Sinema bill because looks like it might be the wrong bill text.

Yeah I assume there has been more investigation work done into the source of the leak than the court just dismantling 50 years of jurisprudence and a fundamental right and medical needs of over half the country.

Anyone who is sick of the SCOTUS bullshit but doesn't quite know how to articulate the arguments against these rulings because they use purposefully covering language should listen to the 5-4 Podcast. Basically just three leftist lawyers talking shit and dismantling the majority opinions for the right wing after the Warren Court died.

Not like there's anything to be done but it's refreshing to hear people in the know call out the blatant partisan hackery of the court. They ain't special. They're just making this shit up because they have the numbers.

Reports were over 100mph, yeah. La Brea is always pretty busy too, not sure how you could even reach that speed at that time of day

People in the comments appear to be pointing out that it looks like the driver had his hand and phone out the window…hmm

Yea, I really can't think of many cities in the US where I'd visit without renting a car or just relying on uber/lyft. NYC, Chicago, and Boston maybe? I've heard Minneapolis has a decent network too.

Would have liked to have seen clinics on public lands at least. See how far you can push federal supremacy. Lives are at stake.
Anyway there are a number of things he could be calling for but he’s just let this go until November. To respond to someone’s frustration with “actually he put out two EOs” is just like…you don’t have to. People are valid in their frustrations, 10 year old rape victims are having to travel across state lines and then prove they were raped. It’s fucked and in no world did this admin do much about it.

For what it's worth I think Denver is at least very walkable in the "downtown" area from like Auraria up to RiNo and West to the Highlands and East to Capitol Hill

trying to get in on the next round of ebike vouchers. my work is <8miles using the bike lanes and would be a 30 min commute instead of 15, but the amount of people running reds and not paying attention since covid has been frightening and i'd rather not drive if i can help it anymore

Oh yea, that is the plus side for sure. And it's usually sunny out so walking or biking can be quite pleasant anyway.

I've been pretty much just using my bike for every trip except work (commuting to Louisville, so bike is not an option really). It's all a little bit slower than driving, but honestly, it's so much better. I hate driving here.

That was a direct response to a part of a post that seemed to say nothing had been done, which was the narrative for a few weeks because nothing had been done, so yeah seems important to point out that once they got off their asses they did do something.
I mean there’s not much that can be done from the executive branch here. His EOs were pretty good in terms of how they found some legal loopholes and such to force hospitals to continue to provide certain services….beyond that you need like, municipalities to go nullification and say they made their decision now let them enforce it. But then you’re talking about hospitals and doctors losing licensure in those states that ban it so not sure how far it gets you. The alternative is Biden sends in federal troops but obviously that’s going down a really dark pathway especially when there is no scotus decision or law that they’re trying to enforce.
