    If you're talking to a New Yorker, yes, absolutely. If you're talking to someone from Ohio, absolutely not.

    Edit: lol I just checked his twitter and of course his location is listed as New York

    My spouse is from New York---they have a very warped sense of other areas of the country up there. They thought of Delaware as "the south", so thinking of PA as "The midwest" doesn't shock me lol

    I was referring more to people from NYC than upstate. Another geography quirk is that people from NYC will often forget that the rest of the state exists when mentioning "New York"

    I have also heard this here.

    In reality, I think the average New Yorker can distinguish NYC, New England, occasionally New Jersey, and the west coast, while seeing the of the US as just an indistinguishable blob
