Regarding the whole "California making its own insulin" thing -- I'm curious why states\the feds haven't done this before?

Is the cost to entry just so high (which is the same reason you don't see someone else joining and undercutting the pricing)? Or was this always an option and it just turns out american is bad at governing?

 

America is bad at governing for a default value of we're bad at governing, insulin or not.

 

Insulin is cheap as fuck to produce, hopefully this gets other states to get with it

 

My guess at least federally is one side of the isle would call this big government and immediately not support it.

 

It's also why people have this idyllic view of past periods of time. Always blows my mind.

 

It can be expensive to develop synthetic insulin (this isn’t to say that it shouldn’t be done.) Walmart sells insulin for pretty cheap but it’s the old, human version which is less effective for some people, and can actually be incredibly dangerous for someone to switch from synthetic to human. I am curious to see which one California is developing. If it’s the human version I don’t see it making it big impact unfortunately
