Just learned that the shooter was driving around my neighborhood and threw his phone out the car window a few blocks from my apartment. Glad he didn't actually do anything here, but still pretty fucking scary.

I remember going to the store alone for the first time around December 2019 2 months after my ACL replacement surgery and I was soooo scared cause I still couldn't run or walk very fast. Kept looking around to see who was the biggest fastest looking dude who could throw me over his shoulder and run if anything were to happen.

I'm still that way to this day, even more now that I've been single for 2 years.

For a long time I thought I had a type of agoraphobia, but I think now it's really more along the lines of kenophobia. Basically fear of wide open spaces, like the exact opposite of claustrophobia. It's mainly triggered flying in an airplane during daylight or driving somewhere like the Dakotas or big open flat desert during the day. I don't understand why the nighttime thing makes a difference, or like why if there's clouds around the airplane and turbulence and stuff I feel fine. It's basically the ideal flying weather that scares the fuck out of me, but I'm not afraid of heights or afraid that the plane is going to crash. And I've flown on helicopters and been totally fine.

I just hate flying in general, lol. and I don't know how I would do on a Cruise out in the ocean. The immensity of the ocean freaks me out. I can swim in the ocean on the beach just fine but I don't go out very far. The deep end of some pools freak me out too.

I think I'm just an 80 year old nana trapped in a 38 year old's body now.

The tricky thing to me is that fears like this actually seem pretty rational to me. I mean, you want to be able to function and live your life, but it's not crazy to worry about this stuff here in this country.

 

LOL. Not a Tesla apologist, but I can see how people can perceive it that way with the secret lever comment. I chuckled. It was the very first thing I learned about the car. I wouldn't get behind the wheel of a vehicle like that if I didn't have that knowledge in advance. Guy is still a dumbass IMO. He made a post while he was venting, then saw it going viral, so he nuked it to avoid criticism.

I have criticized Tesla before, and I'm sure I will again. Fuck Autopilot. No one should have it, even the standard version that just keeps you in one lane. Elon is a monster and I wish he weren't the CEO anymore. As an LGBTQ+ person, it sucks watching him do things like firing the LGBTQ+ and diversity leads at the company. That's slimy and disgusting. I used to be fan of his for longer than I'd like to admit. Really cringeworthy in hindsight. Depending on how the EV landscape unfolds over the next few years (and if we haven't been stripped of *all* of our rights by then), I could totally see us buying from a different EV brand. Back in 2020, our options were even more limited, and I hope to see either Tesla change direction (and CEO's) or other competition closing an already narrow gap in terms of value.
