The report is that he shot at them while he was in the car being pursued by the cops and then he fled on foot. The gun was found in his car afterward.

 

so the gun was 100% planted right? Unless he was out of rounds why leave the gun?

 

I don't think it was planted considering he used the gun while they were pursuing him. No point in speculating too much why he would leave the gun but I imagine he probably just stopped the car and wanted to get out as fast as possible. Having the gun would just make them want to shoot even more (though clearly not having it also made them want to)

 

Boy do I hate fireworks

 

We were gonna go to the park and watch the fireworks but we decided to instead go get cookies & watch Finding Nemo in the air conditioning

I love fireworks and run to my window like a child when I hear them

 

We just sat out on our porch and watched the ones the neighbors set off. We had a perfect view.

I don’t care as long as no one gets hurt because then I have to leave my house.

 

Fireworks are a significant annoyance to a lot of people and they are a pretty serious acute air pollution issue. I really don’t think some people’s casual enjoyment is worth it.

 

And of course people do get seriously hurt every single year, it’s almost like it’s dumb to purposely collaborate heavy drinking with explosives

it's unfortunate that fireworks seem to be becoming even more popular instead of phased out given all the problems - air water and noise pollution, safety issues, fires, PTSD, pets and wildlife disturbance, etc.

 

Obviously most cases cops are better off not getting involved but this weekend is an exception where I want to see the cops to go around and give tickets to the countless people blowing off the illegal fireworks (in NJ, only ground based fireworks are legal). I've never really seen them do anything about it here though

 

Some towns near us have opted for drone shows instead of fireworks this year

 

Colorado is almost always in some level of drought May-October so we also have that factor here.

 

I prefer them San Diego style.

Colorado is weird where you guys are still allowed to sell fireworks despite them being illegal to use haha. At least when I was a kid visiting family out there, my uncle got in trouble with the cops because we figured it was fine to light off since we could buy them
