Now that I understand that Biden can't legally really do anything with the terms or interest changes without Congress, this 10k amount really pisses me off. It's literally going to be this tiny token of forgiveness with same shitty system afterwords.

 

I know Biden said during the campaign that he only favored cancelling student loans for people that went to public schools. Has anyone seen any clarity that he’s not still considering that and this would definitely be for everyone no matter what type of school?

The above made me think, anyone who has Covid recently, did you not really have any respiratory symptoms? I had maybe 1/2 to 3/4 a day of those type of symptoms but other than that short period, all my symptoms were not respiratory based.

10k forgiveness plus lifting the pause would do pretty much nothing for me as far as relief and I’m sure many are in the same boat. It’s better than nothing and I’m glad many people will get out of debt but I do hope they continue the pause until more is done on capping payments, lowing PSLF standards and timelines, and maybe even trying to get something done with reconciliation on the interest. But do something more before lifting the pause for sure

 

One benefit would be precedent. Get people familiar with the idea debt can be wiped out. Then do more.

Also, seeing all of this come out in the last couple days now really puts that initial briefing with the Governor into perspective when they were sitting there with the Chief of Police and slapping each other on the backs like “good job buddy guy, y’all are some real heroes yeehaw” and now here we are with:

1. A lot better at evading our immune systems, including evading antibodies from OG Omicron…with B.4/B.5 being better at that than B.2.12.1

2. Are more likely to attack the lungs than OG omicron was, making them

3. More deadly/causing more symptoms, aka “more pathogenic”.

so basically we’ve got a virus that is more infectious than omicron was, evades more immune system defenses than omicron does, and is as dangerous as delta was.

so, you know…great shit.

Meanwhile, our vaccine makers are still trialing vaccines for the og omicron, another dead strain at this point, while the new variants evade antibodies to og omicron.
