There’s so much more to this problem than the NRA, but whatever happened to them going bankrupt? How do they still have the lobbying influence if they can’t even stay financially afloat?

 

I wouldn't say I feel particularly optimistic or hopeful but I also know that the moral of literally every movie or book about a dystopian society is not to give up in the face of adversity and that nothing is inevitable in terms of fascism and climate change making our world Mad Max

 

i truly think a big part of people being apathetic to mass death and violence is they dont have to deal w it or see it themselves. but after the harrassment the sandy hook parents had to deal w all those years its hard to get past the massive potential for backfire from such a policy change. people have only gotten more rotten and unhinged since then

This needs to happen. These motherfuckers need to see the cost of their evil actions or rather inaction.

 

hate to be the bear with bad news but it would just traumatize people without doing anything , a woman can release picture proof that she was abused and millions of people are calling her a liar

 

traumatize the people. Seriously, do it. The victims and their families shouldn’t be the only ones who get traumatized by this. I’m tired of that being the case. I want the fuckers that defend this and shrug it off to feel some of it too.

Nope, comes up in therapy quite often too.

 

Literally wouldn’t change a thing. Politicians wouldn’t look at the photos because they’re paid by the nra and gop voters will be like whoa that’s sad as hell I can’t believe democrats murdered those kids.

These people are evil and beyond compassion for anyone so releasing pictures of the victims won’t do anything

Well I have hope that the world isn't going to end anytime soon or be so bad that it's just torturous. Lots of bad stuff will happen, in some aspects will keep getting worse. But there are some aspects where it could get better too. I don't think we are looking at doomsday in any capacity that some may believe it to be

 

I am beyond tired now. I can’t read anymore about this.

 

Maybe not for us…. Maybe. But our kids, my beautiful nephew, are going to live in an unrecognizable world

It’s naive of me but one the things that I grasp at for hope is the idea of raising my son to be one of the people that helps change it. If I can’t end up changing it myself, I hope I can raise my son to be better and more capable than me

 

I hate to doomer-pill, but I have no idea what can possibly be done about gun violence.

There are just... so many damn guns in this country, and they're predomimantly in the hands of conservative reactionaries. There is no way of ensuring people will comply with mandatory gun buy-backs, and any measures that limit the distribution of guns will be unequitably enforced against minorities, making us even less prepared aganst the violence fascists in this country will inevitably levy against us.

 

I've accepted that nothing will change and to only focus on what little I can control like spending time with friends and family and just making the most of that and compartmentalize everything else. It is hard though, some days and better than others, and I've lost pretty much all of the creativity I had left in me. Maybe it's selfish and unhealthy but it's the only way I can make it through the day without spiraling.

 

Not selfish at all imo…we all have to take care of ourselves mentally and enjoy the love and company of our close ones. Gotta keep that strength and hope so we have the will to keep fighting for what we want. I wouldn’t be able to enjoy any moment of any day if i didn’t compartmentalize my worriers about climate change on guns or health care or etc. And if I were that depressed all the time I’d give up.
