"The goal is to have a variant-specific booster by the time that every has already had said variant and right around when a new variant will be popping up around the world." Hopefully not for that last part, although it seems likely that something new will be going around by that point. But this is just a huge too little, way too late situation here. Especially because the hope was that you could roll variant-specific vaccines out within a few months of discovery of the new variant

Got around to filing my taxes online today… used TaxAct and I must have done something wrong, in the middle of it they estimated I owed Federal $5200 which seemed insane to me and I almost had a panic attack. I deleted it and went to Turbo Tax and ended up with a decent refund.

Their house probably has a “in this house we believe…” signs in the front yard but they still call the PD when they see anyone not white in the neighborhood outside their window

My job has been entirely wfh the whole time, but we just got a new office last week. Going in is entirely optional, but a couple of my friends and I have been looking forward to going in a day or so every once in a while just to see people and try to reset the working at home no escape from the workspace feeling. In a company where about 80 people are non remote, 8 people were there the day we went and one of my other friends who went in yesterday said there were 6. I’m not shocked I guess, but I feel like it bodes incredibly poorly for the hybrid concept haha.

There's a house near me that, for at least a year, had a 'Black Lives Matter' sign in one of their windows and a 'We Call the Police' sign in the window directly next to it. Definitely on brand for Andersonville, Chicago.

  20. This definitely echoes my experience.

I'm once-a-week hybrid until my 1st Anniversary at my company and everyone has the option to come in on the same day (office is closed the other 4 workdays) but out of 50+ employees it's usually only two or three. And it's definitely not a commute issue haha

It sorta feels like growing pains though. Every few weeks, another person joins the cadre and has the same things to say about feeling like they need to break up the WFH life even if it's just once in a while. We've been joking that in a year or two when a lot of companies have figured out how to nix their physical paperwork/files, it's gonna be WeWork's wettest dream.

And honestly I do find myself thinking about co-working spaces lately. Seems like they fit the mold of what people actually want from the once-a-week or thrice-a-month jaunts to the office.
