Yeah, Durham, which is basically the next town over, flipped their schedules a few years ago to start elementary schools earlier at 7:45 a.m. and high schools later at 9:15 a.m.

When I was in elementary and middle school I was bussed there and started at 8am. I was up around 6 most days to catch the bus between 7 and 7:15 usually. High school was either 8 or 9 depending on the schedule you were given, and senior year you could opt to take PE first thing in the morning and start at 7, which I did so I could get out of class earlier and go to work.

Those days were insane. I would get up between 5 and 5:30am to get to school by 7, get out of class around 2:30, start work at 4, work until between 9 and 10, get home between 10 and 11, and do it all again the next day.

As we all know, talking about something on here is going to make a huge impact on the potential outcome of any given political event

 

My student loan debt would not have been canceled without this thread!

This is something that needs to be pointed out when discussing school start times: elementary/middle schools and high schools often share the same buses. So the 5am bus delivers the elementary kids and then goes back out to get the high schoolers to get them to school for 8 or 9. You push that back without funding additional transportation and high schoolers are gonna start until 10 or 11 and people will bitch about that instead
