Dunno how legit this person is, but

 

He's a reporter on the ground in Kiev, and his writing on Russia, US-Russia relations, etc is pretty prolific.
He's also a personality, as you can see. Maybe (definitely) not as professional as he ought to be. No stranger to accusations of grift.
He's done some foot-in-mouth stuff and some weird ethnic/racial stuff.
He's one of the only Black people doing what he's doing and he has a pretty large and enthusiastic following.

Overall a weird little wrinkle in everything that's happening.
