Honestly, I prefer not being home all day and getting those social interactions at work but people should have the option to work from home if it’s better for them

I love working from home. Find what you like in a job but don’t make me do stupid shit because you get your in person social interactions at work. I’ll get my social interactions in at my preferred time and place thanks. Not directed at anyone here just at bosses.

That routine of getting out on walks has been essential for me throughout the pandemic. I get to see and meet neighbors, get some exercise and fresh air, and just get away from my desk. I'm also fortunate that my wife is also home so I have some interaction with her throughout the day and am not entirely on my own.

I'm also excited to now have a dog who can actually go for walks so I can add in some additional time with that.

  4. If you ask me what I want it's WFH forever because I'm lazy as hell but I think probably the best thing for me would be in office 2 days a week

Yeah my sister is one of those weirdos who likes making small talk at work

I get it though I haven't stepped inside a gym for 2 years and not having a separate dedicated space is definitely hard

My job mainly consists of me driving all over Illinois. The good part is that i don’t have to be in an office almost ever, and i also don’t have to feel stuck inside/at home all day. The bad news is driving gets monotonous.

For me, I started the pandemic working from home and then my boss had us start coming in - alone - one day a week. So, like, I was at the office with one manager at a time and no one else. It was terribly lonely and I hated that more than any other option. I was home the rest of the week and that was fine, but I barely interacted with coworkers at all because the company was horribly mismanaged. The only people I ever got to talk to really were the angry customers i.e. the public. That started making it feel like those people WERE my coworkers which was a horrible feeling. Then we moved to working in the office every other day with only half the staff at a time. Then we went back full time. Then we went back to half staff every other day for six more months. Then we went back to full time with full staff but by then people were so burnt out that they were quitting left and right so there was barely anyone left anyway. Then I finally had enough so I quit and got myself a new job and now I work remotely. It seems like my department will most likely stay this way too which is great to me. I do struggle with loneliness and depression, but working remotely also gives me opportunities to get other things done as well. People should have the option, full stop.

I 100% feel the same way. Not looking to go back to work full time but 1-2 days a week in an office is the perfect median for me. I moved into an apartment in August and I feel like I've been here for three years because I never have to go anywhere lol

I think hybrid is probably best for most people including me

I like working in the office if certain people are there or different people from other offices are in town and there's a reason for me to be there, but 90% of the time working from home makes my job easier and is way more convenient. I'd work from home forever and only occasionally go into the office if given the choice.

I didn't think I would, but I definitely started feeling that before they had us go back. 2 days per week is optimal for me. Right now they have us at 3 days in the office and for some dumb reason one of the days has to be Friday or Monday, I chose Friday and end up leaving at noon because it's slow and no one else is there.

Man, Tucker Carlson just gets worse and worse and worse. He can't even talk about Russia without mentioning how tired racist people are of being accused of being racist, cancel culture, covid, CRT and good ole American Christianity first... like how is that how you start honest dialogue? It's not, because that's not at all what his interest in. It just breaks my brain that people can get their information from someone that starts a 'report' in that manner.

I don't have a hybrid option because my company doesn't have an office here. My nearest coworkers are in Asheville or DC, which are both about 4 hours away. I've never even met my boss or either of my teammates in person.

I wouldn't mind going into an office occasionally, but definitely not every day.

I'm sure this will improve with time and further adoption of work from home, but being trained on a new job remotely is absolutely awful

We are currently doing one day in the office and I do enjoy getting some social interaction during that day. The issue is though since that is the only day we are in the office as a team the amount of interaction is at a really high level so I don't get nearly as much done as I would from home. I think the schedule I would like to eventually see us adopt is a hybrid model where we are in the office either two or three days a week between Tuesday and Thursday.

I really don't miss my 35 minute commute though which seems not balloon to the hour it would become maybe once or twice a week so I hope most places keep this WFH or hybrid just for that reason. I also don't miss driving all the time during Michigan's Pothole Season.

  24. And along with the hybrid model, we really need to see even greater prioritization of internet/communication infrastructure. The ability to seamlessly accommodate mobile/from-home/in-office work is attractive to me mostly from an accessibility standpoint but it just seems natural that productivity would go ape in a world where these things aren't clunky.

I've worked from home for three years and it has been bliss. Never taking an in person job again.
