That story of the Rhodes Scholar who could have gotten any job she wanted out of college but instead decided to get a job at Starbucks and successfully organized it into the first unionized Starbucks in the US is just incredible. What an American hero.

Nate Silver has a lot of really awful takes and I don't think this approaches the worst. But imagine thinking that the problem with the new normal is that you have to spend 5 minutes planning your indoor dining and not that 2500 people are dying every single day. Like, it's incomprehensible to me how that could just not be seen as a problem

I hate playing the “whatabout” game, but if Trump had done this, the media would have (correctly) freaked the fuck out and we’d have 100 thinkpieces on how the cruelty is the point, etc. Instead, this gets relegated to the back pages, probably because no wants to be perceived as being “against” 9/11 victims. Disgusting.
