This is a UK-centered thread but it seems that the point is applicable to the US as well. Considering that eliminating COVID isn't happening at this point (as opposed to if we would have just vaccinated the entire world back when the vaccines were 95% effective against infection and Delta/Omicron weren't a thing), these seem like reasonable steps to take minimize death and illness. As far as I can tell, we are doing absolutely none of it though

 

Would love for the US to do any of this, but we can't because that would require large investments which would take away budget from our precious military and police.

I know these are kind of silly posts, and maybe I’m overstepping a bit by getting serious, but I genuinely want to thank you both for posting info like this here. I am having tremendous anxiety about all this even though I know it isn’t rational and is being fabricated in many ways, and I almost had a panic attack when I saw that breaking news tweet. So these responses immediately after I saw it helped me off the ledge a little bit and I wanted to say something.

Can't say that's exactly what I was going for but glad it helped. I don't think your anxiety is irrational, it's just the inputs that are causing it are well...not exactly credible. Definitely nothing wrong with you for being worried about war, it definitely scares me too even if I think/hope it's not as imminent as some would have us believe and post stupid shit partially to cope

 

Ok maybe I’m still more rattled than I thought because I can’t tell how serious this question is, lol. I don’t have that app or I would try to do something more tangible.
