Yeah, there's no good reason for it imo. Even priests in the Bible were married.

I'm taking a class on the reformation which is rly interesting tbh. funnily, the most martyred protestants in the first half of the 16th century were the anabaptists, who took biblical literalism to the extent that they were against any institutional church and lived apostilic lives, elected pastors, preached nonviolence, etc. Some of them were exiled from so many places that they were forced into a kind of communalism, which they realized worked pretty well so they basically starting doing proto communism by accident.
