No, the election will be held as is, just that the parties take a day out to mourn and not exploit something like this for political capital- something similar happened last year with the brexit referendum when one of our MPs Jo Cox was killed. Tories will probably strengthen up their message on how they can offer defence, as will Labour, but there won't be any jabs from either party about how the other party has failed to protect from this kind of thing. It just isn't how politics here is done.

 

i feel like we've seen this play out the same way time and time again; leftist party gains ground > suspiciously-timed terrorist attack > conservative party regains lost ground. no doubt in my mind that this will be good news for the tories.

 

What really baffles me is how, if this was a bomb, this even got into the arena. Anyone in the UK will know how thorough checks going into big venues are. I've never once been into one without my bags being fairly thoroughly checked and being patted down.

I know they're only kids but what is really leaving a bad taste in my mouth is fans worrying about how upset Ariana must be about this and literally saying that's more important than the people that died. I get caring about your favourite musicians and stuff but when people have lost their lives it feels so callous to just be thinking about the emotional wellbeing of a celebrity.

 

It doesn't show anything but I'm tearing up just seeing this, hearing the reactions of people in there. It's so so awful.

 

This is honestly more distressing to me than the attack. These are literally people trolling with the express intent of preventing people from getting help.

 

Hearing the panic build and spread through the crowd is creepy as fuck. Fuck.

Don Lemon on CNN is interviewing a lady who's daughter is currently missing and it's absolutely heartbreaking.

 

Listening to this now and posted this in the news release. Just awful to listen to her and imagine what she's going through.

 

When this shit happens in a place like that, or like the shootings in movie theaters or at Pulse or at the Eagles of Death Metal show, it really does make me think twice about those places where we should be able to just let go and lose ourselves for a few hours while enjoying the art we love. Now these people who survived will probably never be able to go to a concert again without being reminded of this, if they can ever go at all. To have the purity of that experience taken from them, so many at such a young age, is just horrible.

 

Since Aurora, I don't watch movies at the theater bc I'm always staring at the exit door instead of watching the movie.

 

My wife is the same. She only goes to about one movie per year :/

 

yeah it's definitely scary knowing that if I was in the area I could have been there, but at the same time for whatever reason movies and concerts are still like the only place I'm not anxious
