For real, why I think Kimmel's plea was felt so hard. Like....we have the science and technology and medicine to not let people die of preventable, treatable, and curable ailments, but no we have to let them die because they don't make enough pieces of paper. It's not hard at all, which is why this shit is so infuriating.

Edit: Oh you just mentioned Kimmel, ha.

so then this house vote did nothing except re-invigorate the public against the GOP?

interesting possible turn of election: 2012 obama and dems run on obamacare - win, 2014 reps run against obamacare - win, 2016 dems and clinton run on obamacare(with improvements) lose, 2018 dems run on obamacare maybe wasn't so bad because republicans are actively trying to kill people - ??????

EdIt: I know that dems seem to only vote every 4 years but still seems like the reps doing this now could actually turn some of their supporters over to the dems if they can get the messaging right on this

Too bad it's not 2005-07 when people actually gave a fuck about his band.

  10. Paul Weldman, writing for The Washington Post’s Plum Line:
Here at the Plum Line, we write a lot about the mechanics of politics — the processes of governing, the interplay of political forces, the back-and-forth between citizens and lawmakers, and so on. We do that because it’s interesting and because it winds up affecting all our lives. But there are moments when you have to set aside the mechanics and focus intently on the substance of what government does — or in this case, what government is trying to do.

I won’t mince words. The health-care bill that the House of Representatives passed this afternoon, in an incredibly narrow 217-to-213 vote, is not just wrong, or misguided, or problematic or foolish. It is an abomination. If there has been a piece of legislation in our lifetimes that boiled over with as much malice and indifference to human suffering, I can’t recall what it might have been. And every member of the House who voted for it must be held accountable
