I actually don't know why Silicon Valley is what people point to when they speak about the future, because, for the most part, few of them are actually capable of making money, like Uber, Snapchat or any of those other companies/products that have no use-value.

When we signed up to pump money into this juice company, it was because we thought drinking the juice would be a lot harder and more expensive. That was the selling point, because Silicon Valley is a stupid libertarian dystopia where investor-class vampires are the consumers and a regular person’s money is what they go shopping for. Easily opened bags of juice do not give these awful nightmare trash parasites a good bargain on the disposable income of credulous wellness-fad suckers; therefore easily opened bags of juice are a worse investment than bags of juice that are harder to open.

OK, now I'm thinking of other single purpose kitchen gadgets worth having ... I got coffee grinder and bottle opener and that's it.

 

it fucking angers me, because usually actual innovation is a lot less flashy and attracts less capital. you scrounge around to get a grant so you can do an incremental bit of research. it's slow but at least it works

Agreed. I see a bubble not unlike what we saw in the '90's brewing. Part of the reason we've had such sluggish economic growth, aside from the hoarding of money, is investors are funneling money into these necessarily small enterprises and hoping to get rich off of the motherfucking JuiceMax 2000.


But, seriously, there was probably one guy on the office that was like, "hey, uh, why can't we just squeeze the packets and be a juice company?" And they were like, "Fuck you, Phil. You have no goddamn vision."
