I wish I understood anything about special elections or runoffs but none of it makes sense, I'm always convinced that's on purpose

A labour party that revolves around increasing capital isn't a fucking labour party.

Edit: that being said, of course fuck mini-Thatcher and her Tory wretches.

Sorry, just now catching up with the thread. They're Blue Lives Matter/Police Lives Matter flags. Obviously a hit against Black Lives Matter. In my area, a lot of lawns with these flags also had/still have Trump signs.

This is admittingly the first year I even heard about special elections, let alone paid attention to local elections. I've definitely learned more about our country's voting schematics in the past year than I ever did in school. The more I learn the more messed up I realize it all is, from voter suppression, to gerrymandering, to term limits, to the electoral college, to how winners are decided.

In this case I find it interesting that a candidate must receive 50% of the vote, rather than a majority, or +% above the next highest candidate. According to the NY Times results above, he received 29% more votes than the next closest candidate. That's pretty big. I mean, neither Trump nor Clinton got 50% of the votes in the Nov 8 election. Weird how rules change on each level of elections.
